A stand alone advert is where it can be shown on its on at any time. An example of this is the Hovis advert where the boy goes through the significant events in history in the space of 1 minute 30 seconds, showing you the that hovis has been around for years and is still the best bread. This advert is a stand alone advert because it is a story told in one advert rather then a series of adverts.
A series advert is where a story is told through out a number of adverts, each adverts carries on from the previous advert.The characters and the story line stays the same in all the adverts. Here is an example of a series advert by PG tips, the monkey and the guy stay the same even though the story changes.
